| 4. Character Customisation Tutorial |
|
This tutorial shows you how to add a character, dress him/her up and make him/her more unique by customising the colour of his/her clothes. (This tutorial assumes a scene is already created and a character is present.)
1. Customising the character's clothes Open the character specific radial menu by right clicking on the character or select the character followed by [Space]. Left click on the [char accessories] button to view the clothes/accessories the character is currently wearing. The [Character Accessories Interface] window shows the list of currently worn clothes/accessories in the [wearing] column. Left click to select an item in the [wearing] section, and the [item details] column displays relevant information on the selected item, such as its primary colour. The [categories] window displays the accessories and clothes available to the character. You can resize the window by left click drag the borders or just right click drag in spaces. Left click on the boxes inside [items] to reveal the sorted lists of clothes/accessories. While left click opens up the tree structure in [items] window, left click again in the root of the tree to close, or right click inside the tree to close. Left click on [cornrows0] under [hair] category to let your character [wear] the new hairstyle. Now it shows that [cornrows0] is added to the [wearing] column, while the original haircut of has been replaced. This is caused by the top right red toggle button [auto replace: on]. When [on], whatever clothing/accessory is added, the items in [wearing] deemed to be in conflict, by us humble developers, will be replaced. If [off], new clothes/accessories will add to the list in [wearing] no matter what. Try it, and you will create bizarre looking clothes and hairstyles. Left click on [cornrows0] in [categories] column removes it. You can also left click on the [-] icon beside each item in [wearing] column to remove the piece of clothing. 2. More customisation In order to make the character stand out, more customisation of the outfits are needed. Select a piece of clothing currently worn by the character, for example the [jeans1]. It seems the primary colour of [jeans1] is dark grey. Left click on the [primary colour] button to open up a colour picker. Left click on any colour and press [OK]. Let's make the [jeans1] dark red. Experiment with different accessory and colour combinations to make your character more interesting. Don't forget to move the camera around to look at your character from different angles. Now that you have customised your character's clothes, you might want to save this new character as a template. Left click on [save as...] and give a unique name to the new character then save. If you click [save] button instead, you will save over the character template you started out with. Open the generic radial menu and save the scene, so the next time this scene loads, it uses the new character.
